On Thursday, May 28th some of the Nevada local interpreters got together to chat and discuss the goings ons in the world.
If you want to host a Zoom get together for a group of interpreters or individuals in your local area, the Wild West Region is happy to help coordinate and support your efforts. Or when it's possible, the region can provide refreshments for an in-person event. If this is something that may interest you, fill out the survey on our Host an Event page! With many of us our facing extremely turbulent times right now, your Wild West Board wants you to know that we are here to support you. Though we may not be able to come together physically at this time, we can use the power of technology to gather together digitally and support one another.
Our "social hours" and other events are great places to join your board members and others to discuss ideas for how we can provide support to our Wild West membership during these trying times. Keep an eye for events like this in the future by following the Wild West Region on Facebook and checking our website Events page. Karaoke DJ & Deputy Director Blythe has taken the executive board's love for karaoke and brought it to the virtual world of NAI. Using our regional Zoom account and the beautiful voices of region members, we had some carthatic fun. Don't worry though, none of it is recorded and no one is forced you to sing.

One of the newest types of virtual events that the Wild West Region has been testing out, is a virtual game night through Zoom. Gamemaster (and region secretary) Ian has been bringing NAI members together for a night of gaming and exploring a unique way to socialize and bring people together in these virtual times. Gaming sessions can be a great addition to a virtual conference or long day of virtual meetings!
Some of the games we've dabbled in over the past game nights have been Codenames National Parks Trivia Jackbox Games A Fake Artist Goes to New York If you are looking for a breakdown of some of the games that are available for your virtual endeavors you can find a detailed graphic of some options here. Hope to see you at our next Wild West Game Night! Thursday, July 2nd from 6 to 7 pm PDT, 7 to 8 pm MDT, 5 to 6 pm ADTMessage from John Morris, Deputy Director - NW Region
"We’re writing to alert you about an early to mid-season opportunity coming your way, shortly before the Fourth of July next week. Our NW Region, in collaboration with the Wild West Region (Southern CA and Nevada), will hold a joint event - an informal Virtual Conversation for NAI members and their colleagues. It’s occurring on Thursday, July 2nd from 6 to 7 pm PDT, 7 to 8 pm MDT, 5 to 6 pm ADT. This first-of-its-kind event is intended just to give us a chance to better get to know our regional neighbors, to commiserate about the unprecedented season unfolding around us (and compare notes, a little), and to consider what further challenges the future may hold for us. Years from now, we may look back on 2020 as a tipping point in history - what do you think we’ll be talking about then? All you need to do is register at the following link - and we’ll send you a personal link to this Zoom event: https://bit.ly/37UpiYY (Pre-registering helps us to maintain the security protocols needed to use Zoom safely.) Join us if you’re free, and let us know if you’d like us to plan additional virtual conversations, later on during the season, as the pandemic continues to play out. Many thanks to Blythe Wilson and Ian Chadwick from Region 8, for their help in coordinating this joint event." |
